Dave and I are jousting for position in kit pick land over a 1000 point axis minor assault on 1941 Soviets... the map is pre made and Dave has elected to add a few "german" units to the axis side and to end around the fortification bug for the russians, a few defensive goodies for the home team.
Currently, the two self proclaimed Titans of the game, are locked in an epic struggle in the ELO heavens over at the Blitz, and are literally at bladepoint with each other tied for the #1 spot. These games will be crucial in extending this battle for the top ELO position, and expect a good deal of teeth gnashing within the coming DAR's...
FYI, I got this little 'virus' in what looked to be a datafile that was a CMBB turn... I couldn't open it and when I asked Dave about it, he asked me to take a look to see if it was actually a game turn... blindly I opened the file to find this masquerading as a game turn:
Oh, it is SO ON.
Turn 3 Leto attack
Dave is a little miffed at me right now... He is experiencing the Ride of the Valkries like no other... because I have substituted the Valkries with my ugly little ducklings... The Italian Light Tank
My picks:
- 7 Platoons (4 each) green 20mm Italian recon tanks
- 1 platoon (4) Semovente 47's green
- 2 companies of cavalry
- 5 brixia mortar
- 3 81mm mortar
- 1 Crack sharpshooter
- 1 81mm mortar spotter
- 2 SiG 150 Assault guns
- 2 TRP's
- 1 170mm spotter (20 rounds)
ON turn three, Dave is already reeling from the destruction wrought by my rampaging little duckies...
They chewed up the MGMG - Maschinengewehr [GER]
MG - Machinegun [ENG]
pillbox in under a turn, and 2 ATAT - Anti-Tank [ENG]
guns... not to mention, rooting out a few other infantry units and sending them packing. The little duckies have the venerable 20mm popgun, (40 HE) but also have between 60-70 rounds of MG ammo... so using them strictly with MG's to route out infantry is a neat trick I learned to save up on the HEHE - High Explosive [ENG]
ammo for other goodies.
On the far side, Dave has another MG pillbox, this time a wooden one, and it is giving my lone flanking patrol a hard time...
But the Duckies are coming to the rescue! You can also see another gun revealed... and it is under heavy fire from infantry and MG's in buildings, so is probably beginning to panick.
The duckies should be able to swoop in and blast the crap out of ye olde pillbox and then neutralize any infantry present to get my own infantry across.
So far so good, only 2 little ducks lost and 2 squads, 2 AT guns, and 1 pillbox destroyed.
Not a bad days work for the Italian Mob...
Turn 7 Leto attack
The "Bitten to death by Ducks" attack of the Italian Moberinos continues with smashing success. Already, Colonel T's defenses show signs of quacking. (Oh my god, did I? I did, didn't I?)
Ahoy below:
I've knocked out the wooden bunker as predicted... the hits on it kept coming like it was off of Micheal Jackson's LP "Thriller". His gun reactivated and downed another ducky by a side penetration, but that's only 3 dead tanks for all the damage I have done.
Not to mention one tank I sent reconning ahead through what I am calling "Foxhole Central". It appears that Dave also sensed this area was a great place for an axis attack and sewed it up tight with SMGSMG - Submachine Gun [ENG]
troops... the little Italiano recon tank scooted right through the scattered trees and revealed almost 12 foxholes... I have a TRP so I am going to shell the piss out of it next turn and then begin moving forward with my recon tanks from the front and catching Dave's troops in a Ducky Hammer and Anvil. My troops will follow the tanks...
The 10 or so tanks left in the middle of the map will move down to help get the Cavalry platoon across and kick the Quack out of any Soviet troops that stand in their way.
The next few turns may end up a complete slaughter of an entire company of Dave's troops.
Or it could be pate for the russians... let's hope they have lots of molotov's...
Dave is a bit nonplussed at the moment... his own attack is moving slowly... but we are only on turn 5 or 6 there... he's beginning to run into the bulk of my defenses.
