Well.. there´s the first one. For which game are you preparing the DAR? I play SP, but tactics of other games can be useful to learn.

Most of those guys have been on today, DT, but have not commented here, so I don't know if that's true.

Well if Artie could find a way to let me know if there isn't just 2 or 3 guys viewing these DAR's, that would be helpful.

Feedback is still a crucial incentive.

Cheers!

Am yn. We need just plenty of armored steel, huge guns(best will be 122, 152) stir slowly, bake for 20mins. Enjoy :)

I love em, read em all eventually. I don't automatically check the frontlines section as my favourites link goes straight to the forum, nor do I necessarily have time to read all posts every time I visit. So took a day or so to notice this.

As you say, your time is gonna get pretty short in not that long a time from now, so use it well :)

Yep, moments of pure anticipatory bliss followed by the heady realization that I may have gotten myself in way too deep.

I read a book awhile ago about newborn babies that should have been more aptly entitled: "There will be poo".

Babies and poo are the stuff that legendary war stories are made of, to be passed down evermore (and especially repeated at their subsequent 21st birthday parties!)

And also as I said, translating force is on it's place. Just need Your permission and DAR :)

With babies is only: crying on middle of the night, especially when You need to wake up early next day. Heavy Poo bombardment(Need Anti Poo Pampers Gun) and Huge Love, You can make it :)

I do not negotiate with terrorrist. On the other hand, I occassionally do what I am threatened to do when a potentially interesting DAR is in a danger.

So consider this to be an encouraging comment.

Is that sucky enough?

Ok, I don't have much experience in large battles (and I consider this one large for my standards), but given the opposition you are going to face and the map setting, wouldn't it be more useful to go in even more armor and less infantry setting?
And what about some high caliber AT guns? I guess you are going for a maneuver battle, but still...

Yes, Wolfhound, I am going to use mobility to set up cross fires on the german advance lanes. AT guns at these long range are not dependable, and even the Russian 57mm has a hard time killing big cats over 1000m from my experience. That is why I went with 3-20mm AA guns... I am hoping to wing the German armor that approaches the flags without being seen, and hope for gun damages and immobilizations.

The infantry is important for two reasons:
1) One should not ignore the infantry and they will be used in a diversionary manner. If I can get in close enough to threaten those flags with a good spread of split squads, Marshall will have to spend a lot of attention on them and a lot of HE. While dealing with the infantry, I hope to move on Marshall's armor given the right opportunities.

2) Infantry, even on open maps, is very hard to eradicate. The reason I like the Romanians is that the cheap 60mm and 81mm mortars will be able to hit Marshall's own infantry from long distances. Each 60mm mortar should be able to break and route one enemy infantry squad in a game. At closer distances, maybe two. I will give a breakdown of performance if the chance arises. Following that rule, I should be able to take out at least 9 German infantry squads, hopefully making his own infantry incapable or too weak for dealing with mine, forcing armor to move in and take the flags.

My rationale for picking these companies with large mortar support elements is that if Marshall attempts to flag rush early with tanks and tankriders, then I can most likely get clear lanes of attaack for mortars on the infantry holding the flag positions. I've used this strategy effectively before. Let's hope it works again!

Cheers!

Looking at the parameters Pete...I will be very impressed if you can avoid being cut to ribbons...much less win....

DT:

These DAR's aren't about winning, but testing kit and tactical hypothesis. I enter into these games knowing full well that I am most likely going to lose. But on the off chance that something works, and works well, I want to figure out why, and provide a bit of education for those reading...

...of course I am going to enfuse bawdy comedy into it just in case it gets strategically or educationally boring.

Cheers!

Im interested in how this one develops actually. Being serious, I do appreciate and understand the time and effort that goes into any DAR, its just that I dont personally usually comment unless theres something specific I want to ask or observe.

Definitely check them when a new turn shows on the main screen though.

Interesting and challenging mission you have set for yourself. I think you will need luck, or extreme guile, to kill with those 75mms.

Whatever....just get on with it man.

I didn't realize that this thing was a DAR until I got curious at the title.

So, just do it already!

Good Hunting.
