My first battle in CMSF.

My opponent is Shepard, famous polish porucznik, who leads American Stryker infantry, on attack to tiny town in desert on Syrian border. I have to take back his assault with squad of mech infantry. This should be quick battle, because its my first assigment.

Good luck to me!

Setup

Troops are deployed, cmd. Abu Latif is waiting for aggressor move to start battle, desert sand is red like it is thirst for blood, Abu Latif is observing city buildings through his scope, and preparing to attack.

Shepard is very aggressive, he started with attack and was in better situation because he was inside city, which is easier to defend.

We have covered open lines and streets with with heavy and light armor, which gives our infantry the chance to get into the buildings. But sharpshooters take their advantage on high buildings, and three of our lives are taken.

But the aggressors who dared to get on top of the building were soon taken out with heavy shells, what snipers usually get for a present.

It's our time to advance.

I just couldn't get into it. Felt awkward, weird, completely different – in a bad way – from the previous CM games which combined both historical wargaming and awesome simplicity of user interface and AI. I just didn't like it, that's all. But I have said it already and I will say it again – those pics in your report are really something. Not only does the game depict the desert combat rather fine in my opinion, but the shots are quite nice. Filled with action, people, guns, guns, and... guns!

I havent play CM series before, and my first is CMSF, when I realised that mush more people play earlier series, and hardly to find SF opponent, I have try earlier versions, but I simply couldn't play that after this game. Don't want to go back, and hope I'll find more opponents.

I wrote this long time ago, and figured out now that CMAK and CMBB are lot more playable, and easier, even more realistic for me. Those Battlefront guys should leave CMAK interface and gameplay, slightly improve maps and just change 3d units and visual effects (explosions etc), add more countries and units, and they could have ideal game.

Exactly, that's the point ! They should add a lot more countries or stick to the WW II climates.

Greece, Turkey, Israel, Hezbollah, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan, India, Russia, China, US, and a lot of tensions and different weapons, so it is easy to make fictional war, and they all are connected.

My plan was... to capture key buildings with infantry, using smoke screens as a cover.
I've had a Stryker platoon, consist of:
- four vehicles ( 3 x 12,7 mm MG Stryker and 1 x 40 mm GL Stryker)
- three or two Rifle squads (9 men each) armed with M4A1s, two M249s, two AT rocket launchers (as an alternative weapon) and one scoped M4A1
- one Leader squad (5 soldiers or something ?) with two scoped M4A1s and three AT rocket launchers
- two MMG squads

I've expected similiar Syrian forces a reinforced BMP platoon. During the setup I've placed my Leader on the top floor in one of the tallest buildings because of their AT capabilities and scoped M4A1s, and I've placed MMGs near my objective area to defend it. I wanted to block Propuh's possible movement with Rifle squads supported by Leader squad and MMGs and take the initiative...
Well, You've seen the rest in this DAR, I've forgot to hide my leader squad and they were almost wpied out in first 30 seconds, two men survived and they picked up AT launchers. Also I was surprised by the number of Propuh's vehicles but the battle was fair, my 12,7 mm Strykers could destroy even BMPs.
